Uzbekistan sends second humanitarian aid shipment to Iran
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has sent a second batch of humanitarian aid to Iran, according to PressTV and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The humanitarian cargo included medicines and medical supplies delivered by 15 trucks. The convoy passed through the Artyk–Lutfabad border crossing on the Turkmen–Iranian frontier.
According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the humanitarian assistance was formally handed over to the Iranian side. The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan Ravshan Alimov, the Ambassador of Iran to Turkmenistan Ali Mojtaba Rozbehani, the Governor of Dargaz city Mojtaba Bazmara, the representative of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Razavi Khorasan Province Heydari Fard, as well as representatives of customs, medical, and humanitarian organizations.
It was noted that the entire shipment will be transferred to the Iranian Red Crescent Society for further distribution among those in need.
The Iranian side expressed gratitude to the President and people of Uzbekistan for the assistance provided. Participants of the ceremony emphasized that the humanitarian action is another confirmation of traditional friendly relations, mutual respect, and solidarity between the two countries.
Earlier, in March, Uzbekistan had already sent a first batch of humanitarian aid to Iran, which included essential food supplies and medicines.
