Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of Uzbekistan took part in the international conference “Constitutional Oversight and Global Challenges of the Modern Era,” held on 20 May in St. Petersburg.

The event was organized by the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation and brought together representatives of constitutional justice bodies, parliamentary structures, the academic and expert community, and international organizations from various countries.

The discussions focused on modern challenges facing constitutional oversight systems in the context of global transformation. Participants examined the impact of geopolitical processes, rapid technological development, climate change, and the spread of artificial intelligence technologies on national legal systems.

Opening the conference, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, Valery Zorkin, emphasized the special role of constitutional justice in ensuring state stability, protecting constitutional values, and strengthening the rule of law under conditions of global instability.

A report at the conference was delivered by the Director of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician Akmal Saidov.

In his speech, he noted that Uzbekistan is implementing large-scale legislative reforms aimed at strengthening the principles of a legal and social state, ensuring the independence of the judiciary, and expanding guarantees of human rights and freedoms.

According to Akmal Saidov, in the context of technological and geopolitical changes, constitutional values must remain a stable foundation for legal regulation and state development.

Within the framework of the forum, an extensive exchange of views took place on improving mechanisms for human rights protection, developing constitutional justice, and strengthening international cooperation between constitutional oversight bodies.

Participants emphasized the importance of continuing professional dialogue and exchanging best practices to jointly respond to modern global challenges.

Experts note that Uzbekistan’s participation in international legal forums reflects the country’s growing engagement in the global legal agenda, as well as its commitment to developing international cooperation in human rights, constitutional law, and judicial reform.
