Foreign student numbers in Uzbekistan jump 2.3x
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The number of foreign students coming to Uzbekistan has risen sharply, according to data from the national statistics committee.
In January–March 2026, a total of 15,124 foreign nationals arrived in the country for study purposes. This represents an increase of 8,500 people compared with the same period in 2025, or a 2.3-fold rise.
The largest number of incoming students came from Turkmenistan, accounting for 7,174 people. India ranked second with 2,835 students, followed by Tajikistan with 1,170.
Other countries included China with 641 students, Kyrgyzstan with 483, Pakistan with 438, Egypt with 353, South Korea with 342, the Philippines with 286, and the United States with 191.
A further 1,211 students arrived from other countries.
