Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — ICAO Chief Commends Uzbekistan's Aviation Reform Drive at Regional Directors Meeting

ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar has praised Uzbekistan's progress in implementing international civil aviation standards, as the country's delegation presented its reform record at a meeting of aviation authority heads from the European and North Atlantic region.

Speaking on the second day of the International Civil Aviation Organization gathering, Uzbekistan's representatives briefed participants on the country's efforts to align national legislation with ICAO standards, strengthen the state regulatory framework for civil aviation, and deepen cooperation with international aviation bodies.

The presentation highlighted advances in flight safety and aviation security systems, alongside development of the sector's human capital — a consistent priority in Uzbekistan's broader transport modernization agenda.

Salazar, who attended the meeting, singled out the quality of Uzbekistan's engagement with the organization and acknowledged measurable advances in the transposition of international civil aviation norms into national practice.

Delegates were also briefed on implementation of the cooperation agreement between Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport and ICAO, which officials said is functioning as a driver of sector development and regulatory effectiveness.

Uzbekistan's participation in the forum was framed by officials as a reaffirmation of the country's commitment to its international obligations and its intent to bring civil aviation governance fully in line with global best practice.
