Uzbekistan Performs First Remote Robotic Surgery
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan has reported the country’s first remote surgical operation performed using robotic technology.
The high-tech procedure was carried out by a specialist from the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Surgery, Abdurashid Abdukarimov, while he was in China.
According to the ministry, robotic surgery is a modern technology that combines advances in medicine, digital development, and human intelligence. It is described as a minimally invasive method that enables highly precise complex surgical procedures and supports faster patient recovery.
The ministry emphasized that the distance between doctor and patient is no longer an obstacle for performing such operations, as modern technologies make remote surgical intervention possible.
Officials also stated that Uzbekistan’s healthcare system is entering a new phase of development with the introduction of robotic surgery.
The first successfully completed remote operation is regarded as a significant milestone in the development of high-tech medicine in the country.
