Gas Production Officials Disciplined Over Output Decline in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held at the Gazli Oil and Gas Production Department of Uzbekneftegaz under the chairmanship of Board Chairman Abdugani Sanginov, where current natural gas production indicators, reasons for declining output, and measures to address the situation were reviewed. Following the discussion, disciplinary measures and staffing decisions were taken against responsible officials.
According to Uzbekneftegaz’s press service, a decline in production was recorded at several fields due to a natural drop in reservoir and wellhead pressure. More than 10 emergency shutdowns were also registered during the current year, prompting instructions to strengthen control and prevent similar incidents in the future.
As a result of the meeting, the director and chief geologist of the department received formal reprimands. In addition, the head of the Doyakhatin field was dismissed from his position for insufficient measures to prevent production decline.
The meeting also focused on production targets. In 2026, daily natural gas production is expected to increase by 1.4 million cubic meters through the drilling of nine new wells and the repair of 27 existing wells. From January to May of the current year, production has already increased by 908,000 cubic meters per day due to the commissioning of five wells and repair of 15.
The condition of 461 wells in the Gazli Oil and Gas Production Department was also analyzed. Of these, 45% require repair or restoration, and an additional task was set to increase output by 250,000 cubic meters per day through the repair of 10 additional wells.
Issues related to the stable operation of compressor stations, development of power grid infrastructure, and acceleration of electricity transmission line construction for wellhead compressor units were also discussed.
The company Condor Energy was also criticized for failing to meet its obligations, and instructions were issued to strengthen oversight of project implementation at the fields.
