Uzbekistan introduces subsidies for water-saving tech

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Government of Uzbekistan has approved a regulation establishing the procedure for compensating part of the expenses of agricultural producers implementing water-saving irrigation technologies.

Under the document, subsidies will be provided from the state budget for each implemented technology at a specific field contour only once, regardless of the type of agricultural product or irrigation system used.

To qualify for subsidies, producers are required to enter information on cultivated areas by contour and crop type into the “Agroportal” system. Applications for payments must be submitted exclusively in electronic form through the same platform.

The application must include a copy of the contract with a contractor registered in the “Tomchi-reestr” registry, project documentation, and an act confirming completion of works, as well as detailed information on the land contours where the technologies were implemented, including precise location data.

The regulation also provides that if the technologies are introduced using the producer’s own funds, an advance payment of up to 50% of the subsidy amount may be issued based on established calculations.

The new measure is aimed at encouraging the adoption of water-saving solutions in agriculture and improving the efficiency of water resource management in the country.
