Uzbekistan, Australia Discuss Expansion of Partnership Ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On May 21, 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Uzbekistan John Geering.

During the talks, the sides noted the steady progress in the development of bilateral relations and significant advancements in key areas of cooperation. They also highlighted the intensification of mutual visits and delegation exchanges at various levels.

The parties confirmed their mutual interest in accelerating the implementation of joint projects involving leading companies from both countries. The cooperation covers investment, industry, trade, agriculture, and the mining sector.

Special attention was given to expanding cooperation in education, including the development of partnerships with Australian universities ranked among the world’s top 100 institutions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their intention to further deepen Uzbekistan–Australia relations and emphasized the need to translate cooperation into concrete practical projects and agreements.
