Uzbekistan approves transport protocol with Turkmenistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution on 14 May 2026 approving a protocol introducing amendments and additions to the intergovernmental agreement on international road passenger and freight transport between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

The protocol was signed in Tashkent on 17 November 2025 and updates the original agreement concluded between the two countries on 16 January 1996.

The Ministry of Transport has been designated as the competent authority responsible for the practical implementation of the international treaty.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to send an official notification to the Turkmen side confirming that Uzbekistan has completed all necessary domestic procedures for the agreement’s entry into force, and to inform it of the designated responsible institution.
