Uzbek Human Rights Center, Justice Academy sign pact

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The National Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights and the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation on 30 April.

The ceremony was attended by faculty members and trainees of the Academy, as well as staff and doctoral researchers from the National Centre.

Opening the event, Director of the National Centre, Academician Akmal Saidov, outlined the main goals and objectives of the agreement. He noted that the memorandum is aimed at strengthening systematic cooperation in personnel training and research activities.

Under the agreement, the parties will collaborate on developing curricula, teaching and methodological materials, and regulatory resources for the judicial training system. They will also conduct fundamental, applied, and innovative research in the field of human rights and prepare evidence-based recommendations to improve legislation and law enforcement practice.

The discussions also focused on introducing specialized modules into the educational process, including “Human Rights,” “Women’s Rights,” “Children’s Rights,” and international human rights standards applicable to law enforcement activities. Particular emphasis was placed on modern teaching approaches, information and communication technologies, distance learning, and interactive methods.

The memorandum was signed by National Centre Director Akmal Saidov and Academy of Justice Rector Sherzod Abdukodirov.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on implementing tasks outlined in national policy documents, including the promotion of reading culture and state human rights policy.

Special attention was given to further development of library infrastructure.

At the conclusion of the event, the National Centre donated 200 copies of legal literature and учебные пособия (teaching materials) to the Academy’s library fund.

Director of the Institute of State and Law at the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Murod Turgunov, also participated in the event and delivered a presentation on current issues of legal development.
