Tashkent delivery couriers detained with 30 packages
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement authorities in Tashkent have detained two delivery couriers after discovering more than 30 packages containing a substance believed to be of narcotic origin.
According to the press service of the Department for Security at Transport and Tourism Facilities under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the special operation took place during a night patrol in the Mirabad district on Fergana Yuli street. Officers noticed suspicious behavior from two young men and stopped them for inspection.
The detainees were identified as natives of the Samarkand region, aged 17 and 18.
During the search, law enforcement officers found more than 30 packages with a substance believed to be of narcotic origin inside thermal delivery boxes intended for food delivery.
An expert examination has been ordered. An investigation is ongoing.
A criminal case has been opened under an article providing liability for the illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage, and other activities involving narcotic substances.
