Tashkent Begins Summoning Drivers with Penalty Points
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement officers in Tashkent have begun summoning drivers who have accumulated a significant number of penalty points under the newly introduced traffic violation scoring system.
According to the city police department, preventive talks are being conducted with motorists who have accumulated penalty points for serious traffic violations recorded by automated surveillance cameras.
Since 1 April 2026, Uzbekistan has introduced a penalty point system for major traffic violations.
Priority attention is being given to drivers who have accumulated 9 points or more.
Such offenders are divided into two categories. Drivers with 9 to 12 points are being invited for explanatory discussions and warned that once they reach 12 points, their cases may be submitted to court for consideration of a temporary suspension of driving privileges.
For drivers who have accumulated more than 12 points, case materials are already being prepared and submitted to court for legal action, including possible revocation of driving licenses.
It is also noted that some vehicle owners face penalty points for cars transferred under general power of attorney. In such cases, responsibility can be officially reassigned to the actual driver through the MyGov application.
Authorities urged residents and visitors of the capital to strictly comply with traffic regulations, emphasizing that accumulation of penalty points may lead to serious legal consequences.
