Children’s Ombudsperson Probes Tashkent Region Incident

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Children’s Ombudsperson, Surayo Rakhmonova, has taken under review a situation involving reports of alleged unlawful actions against a minor girl in the Ahangaran district of Tashkent region.

The response followed a video published by an 18-year-old man, Artyom, who identified himself as the brother of a 14-year-old girl. He claimed that a patrol police officer had allegedly taken her and her friends to a mountainous area in Ahangaran at night, where inappropriate actions were committed. According to him, these claims were also confirmed by the minor herself.

However, the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent region has denied the information presented in the video. An internal review has been launched, while the Ahangaran city prosecutor’s office is conducting a pre-investigation inquiry.

The Children’s Ombudsperson stated that she will continue to monitor the situation, taking into account the interests of the minor, and pledged to provide additional information as the results of the checks become available.
