Uzbekistan President Attends UN Urban Forum in Baku

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum held in Baku under the auspices of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). The event brought together heads of state and government, as well as leaders of international organizations and development institutions.

Upon arrival at the Congress Center in the Azerbaijani capital, the President of Uzbekistan was welcomed by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and UN-Habitat Executive Director Anaclaudia Rossbach. A group photo ceremony of forum participants was also held as part of the opening proceedings.

The theme of this year’s session is “Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities.” Discussions focus on sustainable urban development, expanding access to modern and affordable housing, improving urban living conditions, and strengthening climate resilience.

The forum agenda also includes issues related to the development of social and transport infrastructure, improvement of housing finance mechanisms, and enhancing the efficiency of urban governance under conditions of rapid urbanization.

President Mirziyoyev is expected to deliver a speech at the Leaders’ Summit of the forum, where he will present Uzbekistan’s approaches to sustainable urban development and housing policy in the context of global demographic and climate challenges.
