Uzbekistan delegation discusses heat exchanger production and nuclear energy projects in China

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Atomic Energy Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzatom), led by Director Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, visited the manufacturing facility of MVM EGI in Wuchang province and held talks with Harbin Electric Corporation, China’s largest energy equipment manufacturer.

At the MVM EGI plant, which specializes in the production of heat exchangers for dry cooling systems, the delegation reviewed the full cycle of heat exchanger equipment production. The plant, established in 2009, covers an area of 8,500 square meters and produces up to 7,000 heat exchanger assemblies annually. The equipment, relocated from a production site in Hungary, is known for its high quality and uses aluminum, with the option of stainless steel for specific requirements. The lifespan of the heat exchangers exceeds 30 years.

The Chinese side proposed adapting the cooling system to the climatic conditions of Uzbekistan by equipping the heat exchangers with a surface humidification system, which would ensure high cooling efficiency during hot seasons.

Following the visit to the manufacturing facility, the delegation held talks with the management of Harbin Electric Corporation, a leading state-owned Chinese company specializing in the production of equipment for various types of power plants. During the discussions, the parties explored the prospects of cooperation in supplying energy equipment and implementing joint projects.

The working visit, which began on 22 April, is aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the field of nuclear energy and discussing key aspects of the nuclear power plant construction project in Uzbekistan.

The negotiations and familiarization visits underscore Uzbekistan’s commitment to introducing advanced technologies and developing its energy sector based on sustainable and innovative solutions.
