Uzbekistan and Singapore Discuss Startup Ecosystem Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance met with a Singapore delegation in Tashkent on 19 May to discuss cooperation in startup development and innovation policy.

The Singapore delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and the government agency Enterprise Singapore. The talks were attended by MTI Department Director Jasmine Zubair, as well as officials from the Uzbek ministry and the National Venture Fund UzVC.

During the discussions, the sides reviewed key areas of bilateral cooperation under a previously signed memorandum of understanding.

Particular attention was given to the development of a unified digital platform to support entrepreneurship, the improvement of the regulatory framework governing startups, and the advancement of Uzbekistan’s innovation ecosystem.

A separate focus of the talks was Singapore’s experience in entrepreneurship support and its adaptation to Uzbekistan’s conditions. The parties discussed institutional mechanisms for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as the introduction of modern financing and startup development tools.

The discussions also covered prospects for strengthening cooperation in attracting investment and building a sustainable ecosystem for innovative companies. Participants emphasized the importance of effective business support tools aimed at enhancing competitiveness and technological modernization of the economy.

At the conclusion of the talks, both sides confirmed their interest in further expanding cooperation and agreed to consistently implement joint initiatives aimed at developing SMEs, stimulating innovation, and improving Uzbekistan’s investment climate.
