Uzbekistan and China Expand Customs Broker Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and China have taken steps to deepen practical customs cooperation, with officials agreeing in Beijing to directly link broker networks and streamline documentation procedures that have slowed cross-border trade.

K. Kadyrov, Uzbekistan's Customs Committee representative in China, met with the leadership of the China Customs Brokers Association (CCBA) in Beijing to discuss expanding operational cooperation in the customs sphere.

Talks focused on three core areas: improving customs clearance procedures, supporting foreign trade participants, and reducing administrative and logistical barriers in international cargo transportation.

Specific issues on the table included the processing of export and exhibition cargo, raising the quality of commercial and transport documentation, and strengthening engagement with professional customs brokers to reduce risks associated with delays in foreign trade operations.

Practical Support for Business

Both sides noted that deeper cooperation would create additional mechanisms of practical support for entrepreneurs — including advisory services on customs regulation and the expansion of direct contacts between brokerage organizations in Uzbekistan and China.

Preliminary agreements reached at the meeting cover continued working-level contacts, the exchange of analytical and informational materials, joint consultative events, and the establishment of direct institutional ties between the relevant professional associations of both countries.

The meeting reflects the growing importance of trade facilitation infrastructure along the Uzbekistan-China corridor, as bilateral commerce expands and both governments push to reduce friction for businesses navigating cross-border logistics.
