Uzbekistan Airways Launches Abu Dhabi Flights
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan Airways has announced the expansion of its international route network and the signing of a strategic codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways.
The new partnership provides for the launch of flights on the Tashkent–Abu Dhabi–Tashkent route under the HY code and introduces a new destination for passengers of Uzbekistan’s national carrier — the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The agreement officially takes effect on May 15, 2026. Ticket sales for the new flights will begin on May 25, while the first joint flights are scheduled to start on August 9, 2026.
Through the partnership, Uzbekistan Airways is strengthening its presence in the Middle East market and expanding travel options for passengers, who will now be able to purchase a single ticket to Abu Dhabi directly through the national airline.
Under the agreement, Etihad Airways passengers will also gain access via Tashkent to eight domestic destinations across Uzbekistan, including Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Nukus, Termez, Fergana, Namangan, and Andijan.
The partnership also предусматривает the integration of the UzAirPlus and Etihad Guest loyalty programs, allowing members of both systems to earn and redeem bonus points on flights operated by the partner airlines.
Uzbekistan Airways said the launch of flights to Abu Dhabi would become an important addition to its existing daily services to Dubai and expand travel opportunities for passengers planning trips to the UAE.
The airline also emphasized that the development of cooperation would help strengthen tourism, cultural, and business ties between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates, while improving access to tourist routes across the country’s historic cities.
Shukhrat Yadgarov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Commerce and Tourism at Uzbekistan Airways, said the agreement with Etihad Airways opens a new chapter in the airline’s international network expansion.
According to Yadgarov, the new Tashkent–Abu Dhabi route will complement regular flights to Dubai and create a strong air bridge between the two countries.
Etihad Airways Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer Arik De said Uzbekistan is one of the most promising markets within the airline’s route network.
He added that the agreement would provide passengers with convenient access to eight Uzbek cities on a single ticket combined with direct flights to Abu Dhabi.
