Uzbekistan, Afghanistan Agree to Expand Trade Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of business communities from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan met as part of efforts to strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries, concluding the meeting with the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at developing mutually beneficial cooperation.
The talks were attended by Sukhrob Abdurakhmonov, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, and Nasir Ahmad Sultanzada, Deputy Chairman of the Trade and Investment Chamber of Balkh Province. The sides discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, logistics, and interregional engagement.
Participants emphasized the historically friendly and good-neighborly relations between the two countries and highlighted the importance of further developing economic contacts at a practical level.
The signed memorandum provides for expanded access for entrepreneurs to new markets, the regular organization of joint business forums and exhibitions, and the creation of mechanisms to promptly remove trade barriers.
The program also included B2B meetings between representatives of business communities from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan stated that efforts to expand the participation of domestic entrepreneurs in international markets will continue on a systematic basis.
