China Leads Foreign Enterprises in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 1 May 2026, a total of 19,490 enterprises with foreign capital were operating in Uzbekistan, according to the National Committee on Statistics, which reported a steady increase in the presence of international businesses in recent years.
Of the total, 4,427 are joint ventures, while 15,063 are fully foreign-owned companies.
Over the past five years, the overall number of such enterprises has increased 1.4 times. The share of foreign-capital enterprises in the overall structure has risen from 61.3% to 77.3%, indicating an expanding role of international business in the country’s economy.
China remains the leading country in terms of the number of registered foreign-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan, accounting for 5,615 companies. Russia ranks second with 3,308 enterprises, followed by Türkiye with 2,216.
The top five also include Kazakhstan with 1,259 companies and South Korea with 721. They are followed by Afghanistan (656), Azerbaijan (452), Tajikistan (437), the United Arab Emirates (427), and India (405).
