Turkic states prepare to launch joint satellite!

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Azerbaijan is hosting the Space Technology Conference-2025, organized at the initiative of Uzbekistan in 2022. This event has become one of the most significant happenings in the global space market.

During this international forum, the fourth meeting of the heads of space agencies of the member states of the Turkic States Organization took place, including representatives from Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as observer countries Hungary and Turkmenistan.

The meeting focused on further developing cooperation in the space sector, accelerating technology transfer, exchanging experience, creating joint space exploration programs for peaceful purposes, and developing collaborative space vehicles.

Special attention was given to the current stages of the project for the creation of a CubeSat-type satellite, which is being worked on by the Turkic states, with Uzcosmos representatives involved in the project. Specifically, it was announced that the propulsion system of the satellite will be developed by Uzbek engineers.

Representatives from Uzcosmos proposed holding a "CanSat" competition among the member states of the Turkic States Organization, aimed at creating mini-satellite devices and conducting test flights. This competition will help spark interest in space technologies, astronautics, and engineering among the region’s youth, as well as support initiatives and inventions in this field.

Furthermore, the Azerbaijani side expressed readiness to organize educational programs on the "Virtual Space Academy" and geoinformation systems for citizens and observers from the member states. These programs will help spread awareness about space activities, engage youth, and support innovations in the field.

Information was also shared about the current season of the third Space Camp Türkiye, which will be held at the Space and Aviation Training Center GUHEM, the first Turkic Academy of Cosmonauts, founded in 2023. To date, around 150 students and pupils have attended the camp, learning about astronomy, rocket science, astrophysics, as well as the solar system and other scientific disciplines.

Another key announcement was the agreement to hold the fifth meeting of the heads of space agencies from the Turkic States in Uzbekistan, proposed by Uzcosmos representatives.

All issues on the agenda were discussed at the meeting, and several key decisions were made.
