Henkel Explores Local Production Opportunities in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Henkel AG & Co. KGaA is exploring opportunities to localize production in Uzbekistan, according to discussions held between company representatives and the country’s pharmaceutical development authorities.

On 19 May 2026, Director of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan, Abdullah Azizov, held talks with representatives of the German company Henkel AG & Co. KGaA. The meeting focused on prospects for cooperation in the medical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries.

During the meeting, the Uzbek side presented ongoing reforms in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as developments in the biopharmaceutical and cosmetics ecosystem within the “Bio Pharma City” cluster (Tashkent Pharma Park). Opportunities offered by free economic zones, localization of production, and foreign investment attraction were also highlighted.

Henkel representatives noted the potential of the Uzbek market and expressed interest in possible local production of cosmetics, personal care products, and household chemicals. The discussions also covered the development of supply chains and expansion of export opportunities in regional markets.

Both sides also paid attention to industrial infrastructure development within the pharmaceutical cluster, as well as potential cooperation in research, development, and education. Environmental standards and sustainable production practices were also discussed.

Following the talks, the parties reached an understanding to continue technical dialogue and further study investment initiatives related to production localization and expanded cooperation in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and medical sectors.
