EDB Office in Uzbekistan to Boost Long-Term Financing - Khodjaev

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The opening of a representative office of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) in Tashkent marks an important milestone in strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the financial institution, said Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev.

Commenting on the launch of the bank’s office in the capital, Khodjaev said the EDB’s presence in Uzbekistan would move cooperation to a more practical stage and accelerate the implementation of joint initiatives. He stressed that the new format will strengthen direct dialogue between the Eurasian Development Bank, government bodies, and the business community, while expanding access to long-term financing for promising projects.

Khodjaev noted that the opening of the office coincides with the 20th anniversary of the bank, which over the past two decades has become an important international financial institution supporting infrastructure development, industry, financial markets, and regional connectivity.

He emphasized that the bank’s permanent presence in Tashkent goes beyond institutional cooperation and creates conditions for a faster transition from project discussions to practical implementation. Priority areas of cooperation include digital technologies, water management, export support, small and medium-sized business development, mining, and transport infrastructure.

According to the Uzbek side, these areas align with the country’s economic policy objectives focused on infrastructure modernization, improved competitiveness, and expanded opportunities for investors.

Khodjaev expressed confidence that the opening of the office will mark the beginning of a more results-oriented phase of cooperation, focused on concrete projects and measurable outcomes.
