Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to UNESCO Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva received the Global Gift Humanitarian Award during the annual Global Gift Initiative in Cannes. She announced at her Instagram account.
The Global Gift Foundation said that Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva’s consistent contributions to various charitable causes, such as the You are Not Alone Foundation and the Centre for the social adaptation of children with special needs “significantly enhance the support available to young people and have positively transformed the lives of children and families”.
The Global Gift Humanitarian Award was created to recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves through philanthropic service and whose accomplishments are consistent with the goals of the Global Gift Foundation.
“I’m deeply honoured to receive this award, which recognises not only me, but also the efforts of other dedicated people who are committed to improving the lives of children raised in orphanages in Uzbekistan and helping children with special needs attain their full potential. This is a great encouragement and inspiration for all of us,” Ms Karimova-Tillyaeva said at the awards ceremony.
Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva heads two charitable organizations in Uzbekistan, which help orphaned children as well as children with special needs.
The “You are Not Alone” Foundation was set up by Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva in 2002 to provide assistance to orphanages and children left without parental care in Uzbekistan. Two years later, in 2004, Ms Karimova-Tillyaeva founded the National Centre for the Social Adaptation of Children, a charitable organization which provides medical and educational assistance to children with disabilities.
Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva’s Foundation has initiated and implemented several large-scale projects, building, renovating and refurbishing a number of Mercy Homes (orphanages) in Uzbekistan. As a result, these orphanages have been provided with excellent facilities as well as all conditions children need to live, grow and receive a solid education in a comfortable and friendly environment.
