ZTE Corporation expands cooperation with Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- ZTE Corporation is one of the leading global world-renowned providers of telecommunications and network solutions with 26 years of unique operating experience and billions of revenue.

Up to the mid of 2010, ZTE has 85 536 employees worldwide, with 35% of the workforce dedicated to R&D in the wholly owned 18 R&D centers and institutes of ZTE all over the world.

ZTE now has 107 offices abroad globally and provides innovative technologies and services in over 140 countries and regions establishing firm partnership with over 500 operators around the globe, 30 of them are in the TOP 100 international operators. 10% of ZTE’s annual revenues channels to research and development every single year. The corporation is an active member of more than 70 international standardization organizations and forums, making its voice heard in the world on behalf of Chinese national telecommunications industry.

In 2010, ZTE recorded revenue of US$10.6 billion, including 54% from overseas markets. In the first half of this year, overseas markets have contributed to 56% of ZTE’s US$5.6 billion revenue. Net profit compounds 3,250 billion RMB (US$490.74 million) that correspondents to 32.22% growth in comparison with previous year.

In 2011 the company is continuing its integration both in internal Chinese market and external market by building strong relationships with leading operators and switching its strategy from initial involvement to cooperation. ZTE is strengthening its potential in development of cloud computing and integral schemes.

Particular attention is paid to LTE market development in wireless sector, while the wireline segment will focus on strengthening the core network and expansion of fixed broadband markets.

At the beginning of this year ZTE applied for 1,863 international patents and the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) ranked ZTE in the second place globally when it comes to innovation. In addition, across the industry ZTE covers 7% of patents in LTE segment, making ZTE one of the top five telecom vendors in the world.

ZTE has recently announced about its world record in speed of information sharing. The company used its patented technology for experiment during which it has achieved 10tbit/s points in information sharing in distance of 640 km in one optic cable. The results of the experiment were introduced in EFC/NFOE in Los-Angeles. The developers gave astonishing examples of using the technology: using this channel, 160 movies in HD format could be transferred in 1 second.

New types of terminal production especially high level smart phones are increasing their market share to enhance the competitiveness of the company. ZTE potential in this area is enormous. The annual level of terminal production has reached 90 million units, thus positioning ZTE as one of the top five leading vendors in the world. In the second quarter the sales of ZTE mobile phones rose to 1 million, while in France sales units increased 1 million in the first half of the year. ZTE has strong partnership with leading mobile network operators in Europe where the company has achieved its recognition by introducing smart phones with Android and WDCMA applications modified by special requirements of clients.

In the first half of 2010 ZTE has launched nearly 10 models of phones with Android application including Racer, Link and X850 which were highly considered by British H3G, French Bouygues Telecom, Brazilian VIVO and other big markets. For instance, ZTE’s intellectual technologies Blade and Light are highly positioned and integrated in European markets due to their efficiency and quality.

ZTE has also achieved a great success in the U.S. market. Designed jointly with Verizon ZTE Salute phone was launched in the U.S. market in August 19, 2010. In Japan, ZTE together with Softbank have cooperated to bring to the market of older generation people modified phones and monitoring devices based on 3G, which have become key products for Softbank, launched this summer.

In 2011 ZTE system products were launched in developed European markets across all continents such as Germany, Belgium, Hungary and Austria. ZTE continues to collaborate with major operators such as France Telecom, MTN (South Africa), America Movil, KPN and Hutchison.

The President of the board of directors of ZTE Mr. Hou Weigui said: “In the coming year, the Corporation will be with the deflection to respond to the dynamic requests from customers and strengthen strategic cooperation in response to the profound changes in the global market. We will strive for excellent results for the benefit of society and for our shareholder.”

ZTE has opened its representative office in Uzbekistan in 2003. Research and development in the area informational and communication technologies is a priority for our country. It is well known that the interest of foreign investors and companies in this can liberalize and increase competition within the market which would result in increase in number of joint organizations working on common projects.

ZTE in Uzbekistan

For instance, on 30 August 2011, an enterprise for producing DSLAM equipment and ADSL modems began its operation in the Navoi free industrial and economic zone (Navoi FIEZ) of Uzbekistan. The project is the result of the joint cooperation of ZTE Corporation, Uzbektelecom JSC, and Telecom Innovations JV LLC. In the product line opening ceremony, representatives of ZTE Corporation, Ministry of Foreign Economic Affairs and Trade of Republic of Uzbekistan, administration of Free Industrial and Economic Zone (Navoi FIEZ), representatives of enterprises of UzACI in Navoi region and representatives of participated.

According to specialists, to provide telecommunication networks with reliable and modern ADSL equipments is of utmost importance. That fact that this product will be manufactured in massive quantities within the territory of Uzbekistan has even more significance. This will allow to decrease the cost of the product and create new work places.

SVP of ZTE Corporation, Mr. Zeng Li pointed: “This is our first project of its kind. At the moment, projected capacity of the enterprise allows to produce 400 thousand units to access Internet a year. This is our first step. As a second step, we intend to expand the horizons of our cooperation in order to localize production of even larger telecommunication products of ZTE in Uzbekistan, in particular, in Free Industrial and Economic Zone Navoi. This will be our means of contributing in the development of telecommunication field in Uzbekistan”.

It should be mentioned that ZTE is looking for further cooperation in development and accumulation of credits from Republic of China and commercial credits from its financial partners like China Exim Bank, China Development Bank, Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

During the period of its activity ZTE undertook such commercial telecommunication projects as expansion of the GSM network and construction of the 4G LTE network for LLC “COSCOM” (Ucell TM), the deployment of CDMA 2000 1x for RWC (Perfectum MobileTM), the construction of SDH network for East Telecom, modernization and expansion of telecommunication infrastructure for “Uzbektelecom” JSC based on NGN technology and MSAN, and many other projects.

For several years ZTE Corporation has been continuing a successful cooperation with leading mobile operators in Uzbekistan, namely “COSCOM” (Ucell TM), “Unitel” (Beeline TM), “Uzdunrobita” (MTS TM) and 450 MHz CDMA operator UzMobile to deliver end-products of the company such as: USB-modems, mobile phones and routers. In 2011 ZTE realized a number of joint projects with companies like Ucell and Beeline and supplied them with the MF180S, MF190S, MF631 USB modems; S305 mobile phones; and Blade smart phones. The advantage of our USB-modems is the high product quality and the carrier specific hard-lock.

ZTE Corporation is planning large projects on reconstruction of existing and building new objects in railways system of “Uzbekistan Railways”. The corporation is developing important project at the government scale “Electrification of the Tukimachi-Angren railways” on the procurement of telecommunication and signalization equipment for “Uzbekistan Railways” which is a part of its expansion and integration in Uzbekistan.

An important factor of accelerated development of ZTE in Uzbekistan - is an individual approach to each client, especially a stable technical support team, which operates as a customer service center for the CIS region countries.

The company employs approximately 100 employees, many of whom annually participate in international seminars and forums. Also in order to improve the professional level, ZTE specialists participate in trainings organized in China. According to the management of ZTE office in Uzbekistan in the nearest future it is planning to increase the number of employees.

Additionally, every year ZTE Corporation takes part in annual national exhibition "ICT Expo" to represent its new technologies to visitors and to build stronger relationships with existing partners. During the "ICT Expo 2011" exhibition held from 28 to 30 September in the Exhibition and Trade Center, ZTE introduced to visitors IP-TV technologies and the latest terminal products.

Mr. Yu Hongkai, the Head of ZTE Representative Office in Uzbekistan pointed that ZTE in Uzbekistan is not only equipment supplier. But he also expressed his hope to get an opportunity to increase investment dynamics and to implement the interrupted local production of receivers for IPTV and mobile phones here, particularly in FIEZ “Navoi”. Mr. Yu Hongkai also expressed his intention to make huge contribution in development of broadband access in Uzbekistan through successful and continuous cooperation.

Over the years all employees of the ZTE office in Uzbekistan come together in a large, close-knit team, who has the priority and will have – to make a worthy contribution to the development of the telecommunications industry of Uzbekistan.
