The ten-day camp is taking place in the mountains of the Tashkent region and is organized together with the NGO Ekomaktab (Ecoschool) and the State Committee for Nature Protection’s printing house, Chinor Enk.
Senior Project Officer Christoph Opfermann emphasized his appreciation for Uzbekistan’s natural landscape and encouraged camp participants to take the opportunity to get close to nature. “Environmental awareness comes from understanding of nature, and understanding comes from experience and fascination,” said Opfermann.
The camp is part of a programme by the OSCE in Uzbekistan on improving public awareness of the environment and media reporting in Uzbekistan. In July, a delegation of Uzbek specialists visited Denmark to learn about environmental journalism.
