Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Fifteen young filmmakers of Uzbekistan will undergo an internship in India as part of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC Scholarship Training Programs for 2019-2020) program for advanced training in the field of cinematography.

Such an agreement was reached during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan Santosha Jha with the Director General of Uzbekkino Firdavs Abdukhalikov.

“This program covers all expenses for training candidates from Uzbekistan. Moreover, it allows you to organize individual programs at the request of the Uzbek side with training in 2-3 months of cinematography courses,” said Santosh Jha.

During the exchange of views, a number of ideas and proposals on the cooperation of India and Uzbekistan in the field of cinema were voiced. Among them is the establishment of relations of Uzbekistan with one of the most respected institutes of India in the field of cinema in the city of Pune, which for 60 years has been the forge of the most famous personnel in Indian cinema, as well as the most striking talents of Bollywood.

The head of Uzbekkino, Firdavs Abdukhalikov, spoke about the two Indian film projects currently underway in Bukhara and Khiva, as well as about the Agency's upcoming film projects planned for implementation in India in the near future. In particular, this is a shooting of episodes of the movie "Ibrat" directed by J. Kasimov.

The Ambassador of India was also told about the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan on the revival of the Tashkent International Film Festival, in which the most popular Indian film actors such as Raj Kapoor, Shyam Benegal, Shabana Azmi and many others took an active part in it.

The Ambassador of India expressed his willingness to support this idea and to attract famous movie stars of India to this Festival.

Firdavs Abdukhalikov also noted the ongoing tasks in Uzbekistan to increase the attractiveness of the national film industry in the international media market. In particular, the Ambassador of India was informed about the reforms in the field of cinema tourism, including the mechanism of cost compensation under the Rebate system, launched on 1 January 2020, for foreign filmmakers when implementing their film projects in Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the parties noted the need for the organization of “Cinema Days of Uzbekistan” in India and the response of “Cinema Days of India” in Uzbekistan in 2020
