Yoshiro Mori: “I accept with great pleasure the invitation to visit Uzbekistan”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation headed by the Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee Komil Ruziev and an adviser to the NOC of Uzbekistan in Japan, Mansur Bakhriddinov, are holding talks with representatives of sports organizations in Tokyo.

The next meeting was held with the chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020, former Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori.

Mori, in a dialogue with representatives of the delegation of Uzbekistan, separately stressed that he was glad to receive the news about the decision of the Uzbek side to establish the post of adviser to the NOC of Uzbekistan in Japan in order to successfully organize the participation of Uzbekistan in the Tokyo Olympics.

In turn, the delegation of Uzbekistan acquainted Yoshiro Mori with the ongoing reforms in the field of sports and physical education. In the end, Mori expressed his willingness to assist Uzbekistan in successfully performing at the Tokyo Olympics, and was pleased to accept the invitation of the Uzbek delegation to visit our country.

The delegation of the NOC of Uzbekistan, continuing the negotiation process, also held a meeting with the President of the Japan Karate Federation Takashi Sasakawa.

Sasakava stressed the importance of including karate in the Olympic sport, and also noted that today the federation is working hard to include karate in the program of the Olympic Games in Paris. In this regard, the president of the Japan Karate Federation appealed to representatives of the NOC of Uzbekistan with a request to support this initiative.

The delegation of the NOC of Uzbekistan reported on the high interest of the Uzbek youth in Japanese martial arts, and in particular in karate. The parties also discussed the prospects for mutual training of athletes and the expansion of exchange between sports and educational institutions of the two countries.

After that, negotiations were held with Tomiak Fukuda, the president of the Japan Wrestling Federation, who said that he often attended international sports events in Uzbekistan and is a big fan of the culture, history and traditions of our country. Fukuda praised the level of cooperation with Uzbekistan and gave specific examples of joint training sessions and workshops for the preparation of Olympic athletes.

The delegation of the NOC of Uzbekistan had an exchange of views on the possibilities of further promoting mutually beneficial cooperation and invited Tomiak Fukuda to visit Uzbekistan.
