Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China and the European Union, being the two main global forces, markets and civilizations, must demonstrate a sense of responsibility and work together to create new opportunities and open up new prospects in the coming 2021, Chinese President Xi Jinping said, Xinhua News Agency reports.

Xi Jinping made the announcement during a video link meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

He called on both sides to take vigorous action to strengthen dialogue, build mutual trust and deepen cooperation, and resolve differences appropriately.

Xi Jinping also called on both sides to coordinate their actions in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, jointly promote economic recovery, align development strategies, accelerate green development and promote multilateral cooperation.
