World’s largest renewable energy park inaugurated in India

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated the world’s largest and first of its kind renewable energy park with both wind and solar energy in Gujarat’s Kutch with a capacity of 30GW on 15 December 2020.

The energy park is built through transforming 72,600 hectares of waste land. Once completed, the energy park will contribute towards reduction in CO2 emissions up to 50 million tons per year which is equivalent to planting of 90 million trees.

The renewable energy park will account for a large percentage of India’s ambitious target of generating 175 GW in renewable energy by 2022 and 450 GW by 2030. Currently, the country’s renewables energy capacity including hydropower and projects under development is around 190 GW.
