Mission is visiting Uzbekistan from October 31 to November 8, when two capacity building workshops on the above subjects are planned and targeted to specialists of relevant sector ministries, who are involved in project preparation and processing according to national procedures.
The main objective of the workshops is to improve knowledge of these specialists about the World Bank policies and standards in the project cycle and discuss harmonization possibilities of project preparation.
During the meeting, CER expertise in realization capacity building initiatives was discussed. For instance, from March 1999 to 2002 CER implemented Program in Economic Policy Analysis (PEPA) to (i) strengthen the institutional capacity of the CER through the support of training programs for government officials in economic policy analysis, and (ii) develop training materials to be used in future training programs. As a result, during the three year period (1999-2002) 650 participants were trained within the framework of 28 PEPA courses, the press service of CER said.
Another Initiative on “Health and Education Monitoring and Evaluation Capacity Building” under the WB funding was implemented during May 2009 - January 2010.
The project is aimed at rendering assistance to the Government of Uzbekistan in developing and implementing outcomes-orientated monitoring and evaluation approaches in the health and education sectors; and to improve access of user groups to primary data, ensuring a sufficient dissemination of the results.
