World Bank can issue loans for US$660.8m to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- World Bank can issue loans for total sum of US$660.8 million to the Government of Uzbekistan in 2014-2015, according to the official website of the bank.

Currently the World Bank and the Government of Uzbekistan are working on four projects. In particular, the World Bank can allocate loan for US$260.8 million to modernize drainage system in Karakalpakstan in the second half of 2014.

In early 2015, the World Bank will issue US$200 million loan to Uzbekiston temir yollari state joint railway company. The loan will be used to construction of railway via Kamchik pass to east of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan is also planning to attract loans of the World Bank for US$150 million to develop gardening and US$50 million to support reforms in education sector.

Uzbekistan joined the World Bank in 1992. The World Bank’s mission in the country is to improve people’s livelihoods through being a partner in economic reforms, supporting the modernization of the country’s social sectors and infrastructure, and sharing its knowledge and experience with the government and the people of Uzbekistan. So far, the World Bank issued to Uzbekistan loans for over US$1.5 billion.
