World Bank approves Kyrgyz Energy Emergency Assistance Project
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors on 19 November approved Energy Emergency Assistance Project for Kyrgyz Republic.

The bank said the bank will issued US$2 million IDA credit. The credit was issued for 40 years with 10 years of grace period.

The World Bank allocated US$2 million of IDA Grant.

Additional financing for the Energy Emergency Assistance Project aims to increase the volume and reliability of the national energy supply, especially thermal power in the winter season, thereby supporting implementation of the Energy Emergency Mitigation Action Plan (EEMAP).

The additional financing will help finance costs associated with the following: (i) a scale-up of project activities for the provision of equipment, materials, and spare parts to increase thermal power generation and heat output at the Bishkek combined heat and power plant for the 2009-10 winter; and (ii) corresponding scale-up of the support for project management.
