Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 November 2024, President’s Decree "On Measures to Improve the System for Monitoring Cancer Among Women" was adopted.
According to the decree, an electronic registry of women aged 30 to 65 will be created in Uzbekistan, based on which a system of invitations for medical check-ups will be organized.
Each year, women aged 30 to 50 will undergo screening for cervical cancer. Diagnosis will be carried out using polymerase chain reaction to detect the human papillomavirus, as well as liquid cytology.
Women aged 30 to 65 will undergo primary screening by medical professionals every two years.
Costs related to the diagnosis and treatment of patients who are diagnosed with cancer based on screening results will be covered by the state budget.
Starting from 1 January 2025, additional positions will be introduced in oncology departments, including obstetricians-gynecologists and radiology technicians, to operate mobile and stationary mammography machines in two shifts.
A Mammographic Image Reading Center will also be established.
A reference laboratory will begin functioning to control the quality of test systems used to diagnose human papillomavirus.
Private medical organizations will also be involved in cervical and breast cancer screening.
By 1 May 2025, a system for evaluating and monitoring the quality of early detection of cervical and breast cancer will be implemented.
Additionally, a feedback system will be established for women included in the screening program.
