WHO: over 541,000 new cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in the world over the past day

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the World Health Organization, the number of people infected with coronavirus infection in the world is more than 84.47 million, of which more than 1.85 million people have died (as of 17:47 CET on 5 January 2021 ). Over the past day, 541 811 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the world, 8 696 patients have died.

According to actual data from Johns Hopkins University (as of 10:22 am Tashkent time on 6 January 2021), more than 86 million 405 thousand people have been infected in the world, of which more than 1 million 868 thousand have died.

The leader in the number of confirmed cases remains the United States, where, according to WHO, more than 20.47 million infected have been identified. In second place is India (over 10.356 million), in third place is Brazil (over 7.733 million), in fourth place is Russia (3.284 million), in fifth place is Great Britain (2.713 million).

According to WHO, over the past 24 hours, 211,444 new cases were registered in the United States, 16,375 in India, 17,341 in Brazil, 24,246 in Russia, and 58,784 in the UK.
