Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Presidential Resolution “On measures for the further development of the sport of weightlifting” was adopted.

According to the Resolution, from 2024 the following will be held annually on a traditional basis:

Open Championship of Central Asia in weightlifting and parapowerlifting;

Open championship of Uzbekistan in weightlifting and parapowerlifting “Uzbekistan Open”;

Three-stage (district/city, regional and republican) championships and cups in weightlifting in age categories established by the approved norms and rules of the International Weightlifting Federation;

Uzbekistan championship in weightlifting and parapowerlifting among state sports and educational institutions.

A Weightlifting Center will be created under the Ministry of Sports, which will begin its activities in the 2025/2026 academic year.

Until 1 September 2024, weightlifting bases in training centers for Olympic and Paralympic sports will be equipped with sports equipment and inventory that meet international requirements, and in the future they will be provided with special sports clothing (equipment) and other necessary means on an ongoing basis.

From 1 September 2024, regional schools of the Republican Specialized Integrated Children’s and Youth Sports School will be opened in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Namangan, Tashkent and Samarkand regions, special attention will be paid to the development of the sport of “weightlifting” in these schools.
