Weather station installed in Muynak

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the framework of the signed Memorandum between the Kyoto University, the international center of ICBA and the International innovation center for the development of the Aral sea region, a group of scientists installed an autonomous mini weather station at the experimental site in Muynak.

The station is fully autonomous, maintenance-free, includes a battery, solar panel and a logger for recording sensor readings. The station is equipped with sensors HOBOware of the US company Onset, to measure the temperature at two levels, to measure the temperature at the level of vegetation and the air layer above them, the sensor of atmospheric pressure, solar radiation, wind speed and direction, sedimentation, humidity and soil temperature, and groundwater level.

These parameters will help in the assessment of plant growth and biomass generated, which in turn will help to determine the best varieties adapted to the climatic conditions of the Aral sea region.

Professor Kenji Tanaka from Kyoto University handed over the new station to use on a gratuitous basis for the implementation of scientific and practical activities.
