Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The so-called support mission of the World Organization of Operators of Nuclear Power Plants (WANO) has been completed at Smolensk NPP.

During the week, leading experts in the field of atomic energy from four countries - Bulgaria, France, Ukraine and Russia - exchanged experiences on the subject of personnel monitoring and target briefings at the Smolensk NPP.

The experts visited the unit control panel, the electrical department, observed the switching operations by personnel who conducted equipment bypassing, examined the documents in force at the enterprise on the methods of conducting observations, and target briefings. And based on the results of the work, a preliminary report was formed, which includes positive practices and proposals for optimizing processes.

“I am impressed with the high level of professionalism of nuclear power plant specialists,” Philippe Foquet-Alekhin, consultant on human factors of the French Chinon NPP, noted at the end of the mission. - Comparing the results of the 2017 partner review and what I saw now at the Smolensk nuclear power plant, one can clearly see great progress in the areas in which we carry out the support mission. I expect that our proposals will complement what you have already done on your own. ”

The representative of the Kozloduy NPP (Bulgaria), Galina Kostadinova, said: “During the visit, I noted for myself the high discipline and commitment of the security personnel. A pleasant impression was left by the operational condition of the equipment and premises. At the Kozloduy NPP, we are just starting work on the observation process, and we will take the procedures in place at Smolensk NPP as a useful practice. ”

Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC (included in the largest division of Rosatom State Corporation Electroenergy). In total, the group includes 10 nuclear power plants.
