Visa Application Office for Uzbekistan Opens in Pakistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of a visit to the city of Karachi, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with Khalid Awan, CEO of TCS, Pakistan’s largest transport, logistics, and courier company. The meeting was reported by the “Dunyo” Information Agency.
During the discussion, the parties explored prospects for deepening Uzbek-Pakistani trade and economic cooperation, exchanged views on expanding mutual exports and imports, and put forward specific proposals for developing a new model of collaboration between the business communities of the two countries.
Khalid Awan praised the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan aimed at strengthening regional connectivity between Central and South Asia, calling it a significant strategic move in recent years. “It is a great honor for us to participate in projects that benefit the peoples of both regions,” he emphasized.
Awan also announced that preparations are underway to launch cargo flights between Karachi and Uzbek cities — either Tashkent or Samarkand. He noted that the project is currently in the internal planning stage and may be implemented in the near future.
Following the talks, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and TCS, marking an important step toward formalizing the partnership.
Additionally, a new office was inaugurated at the TCS headquarters. This office will assist Pakistani citizens in obtaining visas for travel to Uzbekistan.
