VimpelCom’s net operating revenue in Uzbekistan falls by 2.4% in 2009
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Net operating revenue of open Joint Stock Company Vimpel-Communications (VimpelCom) in Uzbekistan fell by 2.4% year-on-year in 2009 to US$211.3 million.

The company said its net operating revenue dropped by 24.5% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2009 to US$50.2 million.

Revenue from mobile communication made up US$47.5 million (-25.2%) in fourth quarter and US$199.3 million (-3.8%) in 2009. Revenue from fixed communication in Uzbekistan decreased by 6.7% to US$2.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2009 and increased by 31.2% year-on-year to US$12.2 million in 2009.

OIBDA made up US$106.6 million in 2009, which is 8% low compared to 2008, while in the fourth quarter OIBDA dropped by 43.2% to US$23 million. OIBDA of mobile communication comprised US$21.9 million in the fourth quarter (-33.6%) and US$101.7 million in 2009 (-9.8%). OIBDA of fixed communication in 2009 rose by 58.1% to US$4.9 million and in the fourth quarter dropped by 8.3% to US$1.1 million.

OIBDA margin slipped from 53.6% in 2008 to 50.4% in 2009 and from US$51.4% in the fourth quarter of 2008 to 45.8% in the same period of 2009.

Subscribers’ base of the mobile communication fell by 3.3% year-on-year in 2009 and made up 3.515 million at the end of 2009.

MOU (Monthly Average Minutes of Use per User) made up 387.3 minutes in the fourth quarter (+34.2%) and 314 minute in 2009 (+9.1%).

ARPU (Monthly Average Revenue per User) decreased by 29.2% year-on-year to US$4.6 in the fourth quarter and by 26.6% to US$4.7 in 2009.

Number of subscribers to broadband Internet comprised 9,000 at the end of 2009, which is up by 55.2% year-on-year.

Capital expenditures of VimpelCom in Uzbekistan grew by 22.7% to US$21.1 million in the fourth quarter and fell by 79.1% to US$36.9 million in 2009.

VimpelCom owns Unitel LLC and Buzton JV LLC in Uzbekistan. Unitel LLC renders mobile communication services under Beeline brand in Uzbekistan, while Buzton JV LLC offers fixed communication and Internet services.
