Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Employees of one of the banks in the capital, during the evening collection and examination, revealed fake coins in the amount of 2,470 pieces with a face value of 2 Euros for a total amount of 4,940 euros. Bank employees immediately filed an application with the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs.
Law enforcement officers, when carrying out operational-search activities by examining the receipt and watching video surveillance cameras installed in the bank building, found that a certain 41-year-old M.B. made a currency exchange operation in the amount of 59.280.000 soums. He acquired counterfeit coins from 31-year-old J.M.
On this fact, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan opened a criminal case under part 2 of article 176 (“Production, sale of counterfeit money, excise stamps or securities”) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
This act is punishable by imprisonment from five to ten years.
