Uzpromstroyban" was recognized as the "Best Bank of Uzbekistan" according to the Euromoney

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 13 July 2022, the Award Ceremony for the best banks in the world according to the Euromoney publishing house "Euromoney Awards For Excellence" was held in London (Great Britain), within which Uzpromstroybank was recognized as the winner in the nomination "Best Bank of Uzbekistan for 2022."

The publication’s experts, recognizing the Bank as the largest credit institution in the country, analyzed its activities over the past 12 months. In particular, an improvement in the bank’s financial performance for the reporting period was noted. 

So, as of 1 January 2022, the total volume of loans issued by the bank amounted to 13.2% of the country’s credit market, according to the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the total value of the Bank’s assets amounted to 12.7% of the total value of the banking sector’s assets, and its deposit the value is equivalent to 8.1% of the total value of deposits in the industry. In addition, for the reporting period, the total income of the Bank increased by 125% compared to the previous year.

Analysts highly appreciated the work carried out jointly with the International Finance Corporation and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the transformation of a financial institution, which allowed the bank to scale up its business and transform it into a universal bank operating on market principles, diversify its investment portfolio with an emphasis on small and retail business segments , increase its marketing and brand awareness among the population.

The colossal work carried out by Uzpromstroybank in terms of the development of "green banking" and close work in this direction with international financial institutions was especially noted. In 2021, the Bank issued a total of US$107.6 million in green loans to corporate and retail clients, as well as small and medium-sized businesses. In the future, the Bank has set an ambitious goal of expanding the green loan portfolio to US$350 million, or about 8.7% of the bank’s total loan portfolio.

Also, as the Bank’s goals for the near future, the Euromoney publishing house noted the completion of the process of pre-privatization transformation with the participation of the largest financial institutions of the IFC, the EBRD and the ADB and the attraction of their funds with the possibility of converting them into its equity capital.

Since 1992, the ceremony "Euromoney Awards For Excellence" is annually held by the international authoritative financial edition - Euromoney magazine among the best banks from 100 countries of the world. The award is a kind of gold standard among banking awards and is determined by the editorial board on the basis of many months of research and polls. This year, the publisher received a record 1,300 applications from banks around the world for awards in various categories.
