UzMobile to develop both GSM and CDMA networks
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Mobile communication operator UzMobile, a branch of Uzbektelecom, will develop both GSM and CDMA networks, deputy director-general of Uzbektelecom Jamol Mahsudov said.

He said that national mobile communication operator UzMobile is planning to construct GSM network across Uzbekistan by 2017 with installation of new equipment from leading vendors.

Jamol Mahsudov added that UzMobile is planning to launch GSM network in Tashkent city and Tashkent region to commercial exploitation. The capacity of network in Tashkent and Tashkent region will make up 1.6 million subscribers.

He said that currently works on installation, assembly and testing of equipment is underway.

Mahsudov said that the operator plans to expand GSM network across Uzbekistan in 2016-2017 with introduction of 2G/3G and 4G technologies.

At the same time, UzMobile will continue to use and further develop CDMA-450 EV-DO network. This year, the company plans to expand CDMA export, he said.

UzMobile will offer comfortable tariff plans and quality services with using advantages of both CDMA and GSM/LTE standards.

According to data of operator, currently CDMA network covers 85% of settlements. Number of subscribers is about 500,000 users. The estimated market share of UzMobile is 2.3%.
