Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree titled “On Measures to Improve the System of State Control in the Fuel and Energy Sector”.
The document aims to enhance state control in the fuel and energy sector.
According to the decree, the Inspectorate for the Control of Electricity, Oil Products, and Gas (Uzenergoinspektsiya) will be transferred from the Ministry of Energy to direct subordination under the Cabinet of Ministers.
From now on, the Inspectorate will function as an independent executive authority.
The new structure of Uzenergoinspektsiya will include functions to oversee the implementation of energy management systems at enterprises that consume more than 500 tons of conditional fuel annually.
The Inspectorate will also issue qualification certificates to energy auditors who will conduct inspections of major consumers and set minimum requirements for measurement laboratories of energy service companies.
A department dedicated to enhancing energy efficiency and implementing international standards in this area will be established within the inspection. A separate unit will be responsible for the digitalization of energy oversight.
