Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 July 2025, the national payment systems of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan—UZCARD (Unified Republican Processing Center JSC) and Elkart (Interbank Processing Center CJSC)—launched a cross-border money transfer service between bank cards of the two countries.

The new service enables direct transfers between UZCARD and Elkart cards, offering residents of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan a convenient and reliable method for financial transactions. The project was implemented as part of a strategic partnership between the national operators and is aimed at further strengthening financial ties and expanding opportunities for citizens.

Key benefits of the service include:

• Two-way transfers between UZCARD and Elkart cards;
• Favorable exchange rates for cross-border operations;
• Easy access: initially through the UNIRED mobile application in Uzbekistan and Elkart Mobile in Kyrgyzstan, with plans to expand service channels in the future.

The service launch follows agreements reached during the UZCARD FORUM held in Tashkent at the end of 2024, where the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of payment technologies.

Leaders of both organizations emphasized the significance of the project in enhancing economic and social ties between the two countries, particularly in supporting labor migrants and transnational families.
