Uzbektelecom to install 92 solar power stations at communication objects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Joint-stock company Uzbektelecom is planning to construct 92 solar power stations at objects of communication and automatic switching centers (ASC) in remote districts and villages to ensure stable electricity supply, the press service of the company said.

According to the company, national telecommunication operator has been implementing several projects on installation of alternative sources of energy such as solar and wind generators since 2012 to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to communication objects and save electricity.

In order to save electricity and improve reliability of electricity supply, the company’s divisions realized pilot projects on equipping divisions and communication objects in remote areas with solar generators.

For example, UZMOBILE installed solar generators in two villages of Surkhandarya region in 2012, three mountain villages in Tashkent region in 2013, in 12 ACSs in rural areas and base stations and microwave stations in 44 remote areas.

The company said that it is continuing these works and adopted a plan on measures on installing alternative sources of energy (solar and wind generators) in 2014-2015.

The project will allow to provide uninterrupted services to population, including mobile communication, internet, IPTV, and other services.
