Uzbektelecom announces expansion of Internet bandwidth by 10 times

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The capacity of the International Packet Switching Center (IPSC) increased from 110 Gbps to 1,200 Gbps of consolidated traffic. This was reported by the press service of Uzbektelecom.

The company upgraded the MCPK IPSC as part of the project “Expansion of International Packet Switching Centers and Data Networks”, after which the total bandwidth of the IPSC complexes increased by 10 times: from 110 Gbps to 1,200 Gbps consolidated traffic.

Also in relation to the beginning of the year, the company reduced the cost of the tariff for the Internet channel for operators and providers of the country three times. In December 2018, the price for 1 Mbps for operators and providers will be 85,000 soums.

According to the results of expanding the capacity by 10 times, Uzbektelecom can, without restrictions and in full, satisfy all requests of operators and providers. It should be noted that each operator and provider independently sets prices for their services. As for speed, it depends on the connection technologies and the technical capability of the network of a particular operator or provider.

The company plans to continue the development of IT-sphere in Uzbekistan. And the main thing is to increase the coverage of the territory of the country: by 2025, UZTELECOM will lay out more than 220 thousand kilometers of optical cable.

In order to provide favorable conditions for the active implementation of modern data transmission technologies, the development of optical broadband access networks and the expansion of the backbone and multi-service data transmission network of Uzbektelecom, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution “On measures for servicing the loan Japan Bank for International Cooperation and Commercial Banks of Japan.”

According to the resolution, with the participation of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), investment projects will be implemented: “Expansion of the backbone and multi-service data network” and “Modernization of switching centers using IP technology (IP Multimedia Subsystems)”.

Also starting from 2019, Uzbektelecom stops the development of ADSL networks and consolidates efforts for the development of the network using FTTx technology. The company plans to gradually switch subscribers using FTTx technology to provide high-quality Internet services to each user.
