Uzbekistan 04/06/2007 Uzbekiston Pochtasi issues postal stamps on Uzbek architecture
Pursuant to the decision of the Uzbek Agency of Communication and Information, Uzbekiston Markasi (Uzbekistan Stamp) division of Uzbekiston Pochtasi (Uzbekistan Post) Company has prepared and printed out a series of postal stamps, consisting of 12 stamps and 4 coupons illustrating historical monuments of Tashkent, Bukhara, Khiva and Kokand, the agency’s website says.

Namely the stamps illustrate the architectural monuments of Yunushan Mausoleum, Barakhan Madrasah and Abulkasin Madrasah in Tashkent city, Miri-Arab Madrasah, Chor-Bakr Mosque, Modarihan Madrasah in Bukhara, Kosh-Darvoza gates, Muhammad Rahimhan’s Madrasah, Pahlavon Mahmuh Mausoleum in Khiva, and Hudoyorhon’s Palace, Dahmai Shohon’s Mausoleum, and Barbutabiy’s Madrasah in Kokand.

An illustration of each of the cities is published in the form of quart-blocks.

The coupons illustrate ornaments of each of the cities. The blanking prepared for the series illustrates fragments of architectural monuments of Tashkent, Bukhara, Khiva and Kokand. The writings indicating the place and date of the blanking were done in Uzbek language using Latin letters.

The simultaneous special blanking of the series of stamps illustrating architecture of Uzbekistan is done on 1 June 2007 in the cities of Tashkent, Bukhara, Khiva, and Kokand.

The author of the series of stamps is A. Zuev. The author of blanking images is U. Yusupaliev.
