Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The State Security Service (SSS) of Uzbekistan has officially confirmed the appointment of Bahodir Kurbanov as the head of the agency.
Former SSS chief Abdusalom Azizov has been reassigned to the Security Council ybder tgw President of Uzbekistan.
Abdusalom Azizov, who led the SSS since 2019, handed over his duties to his successor. Bahodir Kurbanov, previously serving as the Minister of Defense, has been appointed the new head of the SSS.
During the introduction ceremony, Azizov’s contributions to the development of state security were particularly highlighted. Kurbanov acknowledged the importance of the reforms initiated by Azizov and his efforts in modernizing the agency and nurturing new professional cadres.
In his remarks, Abdusalom Azizov expressed his readiness to continue serving the people and the President, regardless of his position.
The SSS noted in its statement that under Azizov’s leadership, significant reforms were implemented to enhance the transparency and openness of the system, marking an important milestone in its progress.
