Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the evening of 12 August, a grand welcoming ceremony was held in Tashkent for the Uzbekistan Olympic team, who returned from Paris.
At the ceremony, the athletes were greeted at the aircraft by Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, the Ministry of Sports leadership, the mayor of Tashkent, and other officials.
In the domestic terminal of the airport, the athletes were also welcomed by their families.
Following the official part of the ceremony, the sports delegation was transported to the National Olympic Committee in double-decker buses.
Along the route, fans waved Uzbekistan flags and held posters featuring the images of the 2024 Olympic medalists, cheering for the athletes.
The Uzbekistan team achieved historic success at the Paris Olympics, winning 8 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals, setting a new national record for the number of gold medals won at the Olympics.
The Olympic gold medalists will each receive a prize of US$200,000, a Chevrolet Tahoe, and a two-story cottage.
Silver medalists will be awarded US$100,000, a BYD Song Plus EV Champion vehicle, and an apartment.
Bronze medalists will receive US$50,000, a BYD Song Plus DM-i Champion vehicle, and an apartment.
